LaNeisha (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and Health Service Provider (HSP) working in private practice in Iowa City, Iowa. Currently, she is working with SHAW as a part-time contracted psychologist, providing individual psychotherapy.

LaNeisha received her BS in psychology from the University of Illinois, a MA in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Iowa. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the University of Southern California’s Counseling and Mental Health Services.

As a licensed psychologist, LaNeisha provides validation, empathy, and support for all of her clients. Using warmth and compassion, she collaborates with clients to facilitate empowerment and acceptance in their lives as they move toward meaningful change. In her work, LaNeisha incorporates an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, while also using elements of person-centered therapy, such as genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy. Drawing from these approaches and others, allows her to meet clients where they are in their journey, develop a strong therapeutic alliance, and move toward goals for growth.

LaNeisha provides individual therapy to clients across the adult lifespan. She has experience working with diverse clients on a wide-range of concerns, including multicultural issues, trauma, family dynamics, anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality concerns, identity development, racial identity development, life transitions/adjustment, student athletes, and relationship concerns.

LaNeisha’s multicultural interests are firmly rooted in being a committed advocate for diverse individuals, which include working with clients around the areas of racial/ethnic identity-related issues experienced by African Americans and people of color, psychological challenges experienced by women, and individuals who identify as LGBTQ.
