Mervat Youssef teaches an Arabic class in ARH

French and Arabic

Making your impact on the world begins with knowing a global language.

You don’t just want to live in the world — you want to make a difference in the world. Your horizon extends well beyond your hometown, because you care about forging real connections across oceans and borders. In studying French or Arabic, you’ll learn a global language and gain the communicative and cultural competence to live, work, and make your impact in multiple continents. Every course will immerse you in history, politics, art, literature, social conflicts — the things that define people’s lives. You’ll meet international scholars, artists, and activists on campus. You’ll take advantage of opportunities to do a summer internship in Africa, or spend a semester in France or Morocco, or do a research project using a foreign archive. In learning a different language, you’ll discover a new identity for yourself, one that you’ll carry with you into a lifetime of making your mark on the world.
