Yoel Castillo Botello
Yoel Castillo Botello holds a PhD in Spanish Literature and Cultural Studies from Georgetown University. His scholarly interests include medieval and early modern performance, book studies, and the digital humanities. His current research projects focus on the material cultures and reading networks of Iberian songbooks across pre-modern Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as the uses of music and musical forms as sources of social satire, political commentary and dissent in early modern Spanish drama. Prof. Castillo Botello is passionate about language teaching and enjoys incorporating his performance background in class. He is also a literary translator, trained classical pianist and flamenco arts enthusiast.
