Visit Grinnell

Campus Visit Hiatus

Grinnell College recognizes the global implications of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, and we understand that it is a quickly evolving situation. Our highest priority is for the health and well-being of everyone affected by COVID-19.

We take seriously our mission to support, and contribute to, the common good. As such, Grinnell College has announced several precautionary measures to respond to COVID-19. These measures include the cancellation of sponsored on-campus visits for prospective students. Campus tours, information sessions, overnight stays, and class visits have been suspended for now and we are unable to accommodate walk-in visitors. The hiatus will be in effect starting immediately and will go through May 2020.

This is a very difficult decision, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. The Offices of Admission and Student Financial Services will be available via phone and email during business hours to answer any questions. Additionally, we will be hosting events for admitted students via online forums about the Grinnell College experience. Please email the Office of Admission or call 641-269-3600 for more information.

Take a Virtual Tour

We understand not everyone can get to campus in person. If you can’t come for a visit, or if you’d like a sneak peek before making your trip, check out our virtual tour below and see why so many call Grinnell home.

What Can You Do During Your Visit?

During your visit, our admission counselors will hold an info session that covers a lot of ground: our academic programs, career development services, internship and research opportunities, admission requirements, and need- and merit-based financial aid opportunities. After your session, you’ll take a student-led campus tour that explores our academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, dining hall, and more.

Beginning in February of your junior year, you can interview with one of our admission representatives on campus. An interview isn’t required for admission (and you may only interview once), but it’s a great chance for our staff to get to know you more and find out if Grinnell is a good fit for you.

    On-Campus Programs and Events

In the fall semester, we have two Discover Grinnell weekend programs in addition to a Fall Preview Day. In February, we offer a Junior Visit Day for high school juniors who are beginning the college search process. In March and April we welcome our admitted students to campus for special admitted student weekend events.

Get to Know our Admission Interns

One of the best ways to get to know Grinnell is to meet current students. We believe our Admission Interns are a great sampling of the students who choose to attend Grinnell; see who they are, where they come from, and some of the things they've done while at Grinnell. And if you have any questions for them, feel free to contact them.
