Writers@Grinnell Welcomes Keah Brown and Lyz Lenz on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 8 p.m.

Keah Brown and Lyz Lenz will read from their work and discuss writing on Thursday, September 12, 2019, as part of the Writers@Grinnell series. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 8 p.m. in the Joe Rosenfield '25 Center, Room 101. In addition, Brown and Lynz will lead a roundtable discussion at 4:15 p.m. in Rosenfield Center, Room 209.

Keah Brown is a Journalist and the Author of the essay collection “The Pretty One: On Life, Pop Culture & Other Reasons To Fall In Love With Me.” Her other work has been featured in Marie Claire UK, Glamour magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Allure magazine, Essence magazine and more. Brown was named one of The Root’s 100 most influential African-Americans of 2018.

Lyz Lenz's book God Land explores faith, loss, and hope in the middle of America. In 2016, Lenz saw her marriage end, her church fail and her country fall apart. Her book investigates these changes, on a personal and national scale and asks if our personal and political divides can ever be bridged and if America can ever come together. Lenz is also a columnist for the Cedar Rapids Gazette and a contributing writer to the Columbia Journalism Review.
