• Shift to Modified Green Activity Level Effective Tuesday, May 31

    I write today to announce a shift to Modified Green Activity Level and provide updates to activities and mask requirements. Thank you for being so vigilant in response to increased case counts on campus this spring and for helping our students successfully complete the academic year. According to the CDC, the COVID-19 Community Level for Poweshiek County has now been downgraded to low, supporting this shift to Modified Green.

    Cases on campus have begun to rise again and cases across Iowa and the nation are increasing as well. The protocols put in place under Modified Blue Activity Level have helped reduce exposures on campus but it is important to consider masking in off-campus settings.

  • UGSDW Election Outcome

    The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) announced the outcome of the Union of Grinnell Student Dining Workers (UGSDW) union expansion election. The early results counted 333 eligible ballots, with 327 voting for expansion and 6 voting against; while 6 ballots were deemed not eligible by the NLRB and 2 ballots were challenged.

    Due to an uptick in COVID-19 case counts on campus, we shifted to a modified blue activity level in which masking is required indoors. All campus events will continue, and visitors are still allowed on campus.

    The CDC has recently shared the new nationwide Test to Treat initiative which provides quick access to free treatment for COVID-19. Through this program, people can get tested through their local provider or urgent care clinic — and if they are positive and treatments are appropriate for them — receive a free prescription to be filled at one of the approved pharmacy locations.
