The departments of the science division are busy all summer long. Many of the faculty supervise students conducting individual and group research projects. These students usually receive a stipend and academic credit for their work. Throughout the summer, students learn how to use scientific literature and plan research. They learn specific techniques to collect data and how to analyze and communicate their results. They gain valuable knowledge in that field or discipline, which can help them clarify their career goals.
