Congratulations, and welcome!

My name is Sarah Brammer-Shlay, and I serve as the chaplain and rabbi here at the College with the Center for Religion, Spirituality and Social Justice (CRSSJ).

The CRSSJ does several things:

  1. Supports students in their religious, spiritual, and cultural needs and all the ways those aspects of their identities intersect
  2. Houses the First-Generation and Low-Income (FGLI) programming, which includes the low-income lending library, food pantry, and other programs that support FGLI students
  3. Supports students interested in starting a group that doesn’t exist or connecting with spiritual communities in other cities across Iowa

The CRSSJ is for you whether you identify as religious or not; we hope this is a place for you to connect, explore big questions, and drink hot chocolate with friends.

I serve as a confidential resource on campus, meaning if you ever want to talk to me about anything, I’m here for you.

If you have any questions (and even if you aren't sure if it's a question for our department), please reach out to me at brammershlay@grinnell.edu.

All the best,

Rabbi Sarah Brammer-Shlay
Dean of Religious Life and Chaplain/Rabbi
