Cora Touchstone ’19, a transfer student from Georgia, lights up when asked what she likes about econ. “It's awesome,” she says with a grin. “It’s this cool dynamic — a social science infused with STEM that allows you to create mathematical models of society.”

“You can take econ as the traditional finance route, the suit and tie route, and then you can go all the way to environmental economics, where you’re out on the ground working and taking samples,” Touchstone says. “There are crime economists, social economists, behavioral economists, macro behavioral economists. It's just this huge world that you can live in. I feel like you can fit any kind of interest in economics and make it work for you.”

Grinnell’s expert economics faculty members care about your unique interests. They will help you take full advantage of the individually advised curriculum so you begin to navigate the world’s complexities right away.
