Susan Wood, professor of art history at Oakland University, will give a lecture on Roman portraiture of the third century CE. She will provide analysis of the circumstances under which these portraits were made. This lecture will serve as an introduction to a Roman portrait in the Faulconer Gallery Collection, and she will discuss this portrait with the audience.

Wood has a doctorate from Columbia University and is the author of two books on Roman portraiture: Roman Portrait Sculpture, A.D. 217-260 (Brill, 1986) and Imperial Women: A Study In Public Images, 40 B.C. - A.D. 68 (Brill, 1999).
