Grinnell College Receives Carnegie Classification Seal
In the spring of 2025, Grinnell College was honored to receive a Carnegie Classification as a Research College and University. As part of this updated classification system, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education have released newly designed seals as a visual representation of the College’s ongoing commitment to scholarly and impactful research.
The 2025 designation was a new honor for the College. The previous 2021 classification categorized Grinnell under Baccalaureate Colleges: Arts & Sciences Focus. The new classification system offers a refined and updated approach to categorizing institutions based on their research activity, and better represents the College’s engagement and investment in research.
