Happy Birthday Charles Dickens!  2012 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great English novelist, Charles Dickens.  Characters such as Tiny Tim, Ebenezer Scrooge, Oliver Twist, Little Nell, Mr. Pickwick, Miss Havisham, and countless others have found immortality through his stories.  Dickens’ works are still in print and have been made into films, television series, and musicals.  Dickens’ novels were originally published in monthly or weekly installments which made them more affordable for his growing readership.  The cliff-hangers that concluded each installment assured that his audience would return to find out what happened.
