Old-Time String Band to Perform March 8-9

Euphor, an old-time string band, will play at a Contra Dance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, in the Grinnell Arts Center, and on Saturday, March 9, the band will present a workshop from 1-3 p.m. in the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts, followed by a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Herrick Chapel.

All of the events are free and open to the public with no tickets required.

Euphor is one of the most widely sought old-time string bands and Contra Dance bands in the Midwest. The band will play for the Contra Dance with caller Reid Miller.

Euphor’s members are Tom Turino on banjo, fiddle, and vocals; Matt Turino on fiddle, guitar, and feet; Sam Payne on guitar; and Michael Valliant on upright bass. Euphor blends classic old-time tunes with the band’s compositions in creative, percussive, and improvisational ways to compel everyone to dance.
