Presidential Papers from the Salisbury House Library Collection

The Grinnell College Libraries present four selections from the Salisbury House Library Collection using the Magic Box on Burling’s first floor and online. The selected works have presidential ties to U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

About The Salisbury House Library Collection

In 2019 Grinnell College acquired and moved the Des Moines Salisbury House’s library collection of nearly 5,000 rare books and historic documents to Burling Library. Grinnell College and Salisbury House continue to collaborate with exhibits and events. Now at Grinnell, the collection is being processed, preserved, and joins the existing teaching collection of Special Collections as primary resources in classes and supporting scholars.
