Aimee Nezhukumatathil will lead an afternoon roundtable discussion about writing poetry and then read from her work in the evening as the final event in this year’s Writers@Grinnell series. Student winners of the Spring 2019 Writing Contests will be announced after the reading. The roundtable and reading are free and open to the public.

Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Aimee Nezhukumatathil was born in Chicago to a Filipina mother and a father from South India. She received her bachelor's degree in English and her master's degree in poetry and creative nonfiction from The Ohio State University.

Nezhukumatathil is poetry editor of Orion magazine. Her poems have appeared in the 2015 and 2018 Best American Poetry series, American Poetry Review, New England Review, Poetry, Ploughshares, and Tin House. She is professor of English at the University of Mississippi, where she teaches creative writing and environmental literature.

Her newest collection of poems is Oceanic (Copper Canyon Press). She is also author of a  forthcoming book of illustrated nature essays, World of Wonder (Milkweed). Her most recent chapbook is Lace & Pyrite (2014), a collaboration of nature poems with the poet Ross Gay.
