Special Campus Memo: Student Unionization Petition Withdrawal

Published:
December 21, 2018
Grinnell has been informed that the Regional Director of the National Labor Relations Board has approved UGSDW's request to withdraw its petition seeking to expand the union's representation to cover nearly all students on campus. The College did not oppose this request to withdraw -- there has been some misleading reporting on this, and we want to make sure the College's position is clear.

Grinnell has enormous respect for the myriad roles our students play in our community, and enhancing the Grinnell student experience, including experiential education, remains a top priority for the College.

We appreciate that not everyone agrees on this issue and welcome this spirited and important debate. We encourage you to read an op-ed that President Kington has written that elaborates on this issue.
