Grinnell College Staff Council has named three staff members as recipients of the Fall 2026 Grand Grinnellian Award, recognizing their dedication to the College, exceptional work, and commitment to supporting students and colleagues.

This fall's honorees — Amy Anderson, Abhishek Gaur and Will Luebke — were recognized for their contributions to campus through innovation, collaboration, mentorship, and service. Each exemplifies Grinnell's values and strengthens the College community through their work.

The Grand Grinnellian Award is presented by Staff Council in collaboration with the Office of the President, the Office of Human Resources, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Amy Anderson

Amy Anderson, director of budget and grant accounting, is recognized for her collaborative approach, financial expertise, and commitment to improving processes that support the College's long-term goals.

Colleagues describe Anderson as a trusted partner and mentor who brings patience, respect, and a genuine willingness to help others navigate complex financial decisions. She consistently seeks input from campus partners, shares her knowledge, and works across departments to find thoughtful solutions.

Her contributions have helped advance several important campus initiatives, including financial analysis that made GrinBooks feasible, a comprehensive asset management initiative in partnership with Dining Services and Facilities Management, and analysis supporting the transition from physical student mailboxes to an electronic system.

Nominators praised Anderson for her ability to bring people together, strengthen institutional processes, and approach every project with the College's best interests in mind. Her dedication to helping others and willingness to adapt to evolving campus needs make her a valued colleague and leader.

Abhishek Gaur

Abhishek Gaur, data analyst, is recognized for his innovative thinking, collaborative spirit, and dedication to mentoring students and emerging professionals.

Through his work with departments across campus, Gaur has helped advance institutional initiatives, including supporting the transition to Power BI for data analysis and reporting. He also shares his expertise beyond Grinnell, presenting at professional conferences and contributing to conversations about technology and higher education.

Mentorship is central to Gaur's work. At Grinnell, he has supported students studying statistics and helped young professionals develop their skills and confidence. Beyond campus, he serves on the board of the Young Professionals Connection of Greater Des Moines and mentors high school students through the Orbis program in Ankeny.

Gaur also produces the EDUCAUSE Rising Voices Podcast, creating opportunities for emerging professionals to share their experiences and perspectives in higher education technology.

"Honestly, a big part of feeling okay at college is having people you can go to, and he is one of those people for a lot of us," one nominator shared.

Colleagues describe Gaur as a positive and encouraging presence who recognizes the strengths of others and helps them reach their potential.

Will Luebke

Will Luebke, assistant director of international student programs, is honored for his dedication to supporting international students and fostering a welcoming, inclusive campus community.

Known for his knowledge of international education and his thoughtful approach to student advising, Luebke helps students navigate complex federal regulations, travel requirements, and other challenges that can accompany studying in another country. His guidance provides reassurance and allows students to focus on their academic and personal experiences at Grinnell.

One nominator described Luebke as "deeply dedicated to building an equitable and inclusive campus culture where international students from all backgrounds feel truly valued."

Beyond his advising responsibilities, Luebke serves as a trusted mentor and actively supports student organizations and activities. Students and colleagues appreciate his willingness to listen, welcome different perspectives, and encourage respectful conversations across cultures.

Nominators consistently highlighted his ability to make others feel heard, respected, and supported. Through his compassion, expertise, and commitment to student success, Luebke helps create a sense of belonging for students from around the world.
