Tilly Woodward, curator of academic and community outreach, and Karen Neal, director of Drake Community Library, were honored by the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation last month with the Spirit of Giving Award for “contagious enthusiasm.”

The award, designed to honor those who better the lives of Poweshiek County residents, was given to Woodward and Neal in recognition of programming collaborations between Drake Community Library and the Grinnell College Museum of Art. The pair’s efforts were cited as having encouraged a love of reading and the arts among Grinnell children.

These collaborative efforts have included weekly art activity bags provided by the library, the Storytime Art in the Park series, and virtual programming throughout the pandemic, among many other events for area youth.
