As most of you already know, the College is creating GrinnellShare, a website specifically for the Grinnell campus community.
The new site is being created by and for students, faculty, and staff. Grinnellians, however, are a diverse bunch, so we need feedback from a lot of people to make sure the site works well for everyone.
That’s where you come in.
Your feedback provides us with insight about your experience with Grinnell; how you think about things and what’s most important to you.
Step 1: Find Important Tasks
We’ve meet with students, faculty, and staff to find tasks that are commonly used. The results of these conversations laid the groundwork for the following steps.
Step 2: Discover How Different Groups Think About the Tasks (Currently Open)
The three surveys below are based on tasks that came up in meetings with groups on campus.
In each survey, you can sort tasks into groups and give the groups a label. You’ll also have the chance to let us know about anything that’s really important to you that you didn’t see listed.
We’ll use the results of these surveys when creating navigation.
The Surveys
These surveys are available for online completion. Each survey should take between 15-20 minutes for most people.
- Going to Grinnell
- Targeted towards students and those who provide student support
- Teaching at Grinnell
- Primarily for faculty and those who provide faculty support
- Working at Grinnell
- Targeted towards staff and faculty
You can take any or all surveys, even if you’re not in the targeted group.
Step 3: Make Sure People Can Find What They Need (July 21-25)
We’ll use the results from Steps 1 and 2 to create prototype navigation for the site.
During this process, we’ll be reaching out to individuals on campus to test the navigation to make sure it works and people can find what they need to find.

Step 4: Test Navigation in Site Mockups (July 28-31)
We’ll be testing the navigation prototype in a rough mockup of the new site.
