The first weekend of October marked this year’s Pioneer Weekend pitch competition, a unique opportunity for Grinnell students to gain valuable entrepreneurial experience. This year, 13 teams comprised of 53 students applied their skills of innovation to develop business or non-profit plans, which they would go on to pitch to a panel of judges. The weekend presented participants with the chance to learn from professionals, connect with students with similar ambitions, and experience entrepreneurship in a hands-on manner.

Students in Professor of Art History Michael Mackenzie’s Exhibition Seminar, curated the Rhizomatic Intimacies exhibit at the Grinnell College Museum of Art.

Students in Professor David Harrison’s Spring 2025 advanced French seminar, Molière: Performance and Adaptation, pitched theatrical production concepts to a nationally renowned theatre director in Chicago.

In spring 2025, students in Barry Driscoll’s Political Economy of Developing Countries course traveled to Ghana to study the economics of cocoa farming.

Alumna Andrea Brennen ’04, who has listened to thousands of tech startups pitch their ideas, shared tips with students.

Wilson Center funds allow students to explore professional interests related to leadership and innovation in various fields.

Congratulations to Dayana Garcia ’26, Brian Goodell ’24, and Nathan Hoffman ’24! These three Wilson Center student employees have been recognized as outstanding student employees at Grinnell College.

Five teams of students pitched social innovation solutions at the Spark Challenge in April, 2024. They competed for cash prizes and the opportunity to win an implementation grant for their community partner or campus partner. Funding for the program is offered by the Wilson Center for Innovation and Leadership.
