Hills will present the Grinnell Lecture “The Achievement of Identity: Soul Work, Salvation, and Black Manhood in the Religious Imagination of James Baldwin” — at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13. The presentation is part of a celebration of our faculty’s collective research accomplishments.

Staff members of The Scarlet & Black, Grinnell College’s student newspaper, recently attended the Iowa College Media Association (ICMA) awards ceremony, where they achieved remarkable success, earning multiple individual and staff awards. Their dedication to high-quality journalism was recognized with one of the most prestigious honors of the evening—being named 2024 News & Multimedia Organization of the Year.

The Grinnell Singers will present their program, The Light is the Same, in a spring tour to six cities across the Midwest from March 9–14.

Grinnell College Dining Services continues to push the boundaries of campus dining, bringing creativity and craftsmanship to every meal. On Tuesday, March 4 from 5pm to 8pm., the team is showcasing its expertise with a Mardi Gras-inspired menu and a behind-the-scenes look at the artisan pizza-making process that defines the Marketplace experience.

Grinnell has been honored to receive the 2024 Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention™. Presented by Vector Solutions, the CPN Seal of Prevention™ recognizes institutions of higher education that demonstrate leadership in the areas of student safety, well-being, and inclusion.

Students at Grinnell College have been putting their passion for animals into action through a collaboration with the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS), a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals. In partnership with PALS, Grinnell students have been socializing and helping dogs learn basic manners in order to give them a better chance of finding loving, forever homes.

Monica Sanders, the inaugural Social Innovator in Residence, will be in residency March 24 – May 10. Her residency is a keystone of Grinnell’s commitment to advancing social justice and civic engagement, providing a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful community impact.
