Sherif Abdelkarim specializes in English historical linguistics and Old English, Middle English, and classical and early postclassical Arabic literature. His book project, Hypocrisy: Private Laws, Literary Publics, 500-1500, examines premodern conceptions and representations of hypocrisy through poetic, philosophical, legal, and linguistic perspectives. He is also the editor and translator (with Katherine Jacka, Ahmad Kzzo, and Matt King) of Al-Idrisi's The Book of Roger in Translation: The Norman Kingdom in the South (Arc Humanities Press, forthcoming).
