Stephanie Haines ’14
Associate Director of Financial Aid
I returned to my alma mater to join the Office of Financial Aid in February 2021. My experience in financial aid began as a student worker in 2010. Since graduating in 2014, I have worked in the financial aid offices at Bowdoin College and Harvard College. My primary responsibilities include reviewing financial aid applications to determine financial aid eligibility, assisting students and their families with the financial aid process, managing communications, and handling all things related to financial aid for off-campus study. I really enjoy building meaningful relationships with students and their families during their time at Grinnell.
I grew up on a farm south of Grinnell, and my family raised livestock and showed Boer goats across the Midwest. I was crowned the first ever Iowa Meat Goat Queen in 2011. I earned my B.A. in Political Science from Grinnell College in 2014 and my Ed.M. from Harvard University in 2015. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Education at Iowa State University, and my research interests include college pricing, financial aid policy, and rural student access and success in higher education. I live in Des Moines with my partner and our cat. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, socializing with friends and family, hiking, and exploring new places within the U.S. and internationally.
