Nicholas Ng

Nick's research interests are in differential geometry. He is broadly interested in how curvature affects the geometry and topology of manifolds, particularly in the setting of manifolds with density under weighted curvature bounds. He is also interested in gradient solitons of geometric flows, which are specific geometric structures on manifolds that preserve their essential form as they evolve under the flow.
 

Before joining Grinnell College, Nick spent three years as a Postdoctoral Lecturer at Northwestern University. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Syracuse University in 2023 under the supervision of William Wylie.
 

Nick sees teaching and learning as a two-way process, with teachers learning from their students and students learning from their teachers. He enjoys working through challenging mathematics with students and helping them develop the skills to approach difficult problems. His goal is to help students become confident, independent problem-solvers who can carry these skills beyond the classroom.
