Emi O'Brochta

Emi O’Brochta is a sculptor based in Grinnell, Iowa. She earned an MFA in Sculpture from Tulane University, as well as a BFA in Sculpture and Intermedia and a BA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa. Previously, she served as an Instructor of Record at Tulane University and as the Gallery Manager for the Newcomb Museum of Art in New Orleans. Her work has been exhibited across the United States, including recent exhibitions at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans and Woman Made Gallery in Chicago.
In her sculptural practice, O’Brochta deconstructs inherited belief systems by returning to the site of a long-abandoned faith. Ruminating on her Catholic upbringing, her work traces the enduring impacts of religious education on early identity.
