Writing Laboratory Assistant

Originally from Mexico City, David earned his bachelor degree in English from the University of Iowa and his MFA in Creative Writing and Environment from Iowa State, where he was a Pearl Hogrefe Fellow and fiction editor for the literary journal Flyway. He has taught college writing for seven years, served students at the Academic Achievement Center at DMACC, and held the title of Writing Specialist. Most recently, he was a Retention Coordinator for TRiO Student Support Services, a grant-funded program at Simpson College.

David enjoys writing, literary translation, film photography, bicycling, and listening to records. He hopes to soon acquire a telescope to teach his daughter Vivian about the stars.
