The Symphonic Band is dedicated to bringing the best in wind band literature to the students, faculty, and community of Grinnell College. Students in Symphonic Band will experience a wide variety of repertoire, spanning from classic core collegiate wind music to the best in newly composed literature. Symphonic Band members will also have opportunities to collaborate with outstanding soloists from the professional community. The Symphonic Band is comprised of students from many different majors and members of the community. This class is specifically designed to reach both the aspiring professional musician and those who are pursuing other career paths who maintain a passion for music and want to continue performing at a high level with other music lovers.
Symphonic Band rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m., and is open to all students with previous wind or percussion experience. The Symphonic Band performs two to four times in concert over the course of the year. Auditions are not required for admission to the class, and chair placements take place at the beginning of each semester. Contact director Josh Neuenschwander for more information about how you can make music with us here on campus!
