Fifteen Grinnell College first year students participating in the Global Learning Program led by Professors Xavier Escandell (Anthropology) and David Cook-Martín (Sociology), spent the first week of spring break 2017 in the southwestern United States. Their itinerary took them on a one-day excursion into Mexico, where they spent the morning at Colegio de la Frontera Norte in Tijuana, Baja California.

Doctors Rafael Alarcon Acosta and Eunice Vargas Valle of Tijuana, joined by Professors Escandell and Cook-Martín on the panel, shared their research in the seminar titled "Challenges of Returned and Deported Mexican Migrants in the Trump Era."
