Joe Mileti, associate professor of mathematics, recently published a textbook with Cambridge University Press. Modern Mathematical Logic, released at the end of September, offers a contemporary introduction to the foundations of mathematical logic, while guiding readers to draw connections between formal logic and the rest of mathematics. The textbook is designed for upper-undergraduate or beginning-graduate courses and contains many exercises developed while Mileti taught logic courses at Grinnell.

To hear more from Joe Mileti about his textbook and about the logic and imagination of mathematics, check out his episode on the Grinnell College Authors and Artists podcast, hosted by Marshal Poe ’84!
