New and Improved Spaces in Burling Library
It’s been another busy summer for Grinnell College Libraries! Just in time for the Fall semester, we’ve made a number of improvements to the spaces in Burling Library.
New book scanner
Responding to the popularity of our KIC Bookeye scanner, we added a KIC Click Mini scanner on the first level, northwest side of Burling Library. Similar to the Bookeye scanner (located west of the new scanner), the KIC Mini offers efficient, face-up scanning and a variety of delivery methods to get you back to your research!
New Media Room viewing stations
Burling now has 8 media viewing stations with a combination of multi-region, DVD, VHS, and Blu-Ray players located in the Media Room, basement level. Remotes and headphones are available for checkout at the circulation desk.
New group study rooms
Burling has four new group study rooms on the second level, east side that accommodate up to 4 people. They each contain a full wall of whiteboard and will soon be equipped with power. Three of the rooms will receive a flat screen in 2019. Use is first come, first served.
Relocated collections
The current and popular books and the faculty/staff publications have moved to the northeast side of the first level of Burling Library. To peruse the latest Grinnell publications, check out the list of new faculty/staff publications on the side of the stacks. In addition, the reference collection has been moved to the south side of the range.
Book display
Our book display and comfortable seating is now located on the northeast side of the first level near the newly located current and popular books collection, so bring a covered mug for tea and page through the latest books on display!
Research & Technology desk
The Research & Technology desk is now centrally located on the first floor of Burling Library, across from Circulation. Stop by with questions for our Research & Technology Tutors, Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; or Saturday 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
