Staff Council and Human Resources has developed a Staff Leadership Development Program as part of the Catalyst for Educational Excellence theme in the strategic plan, Knowledge Into Action. The program is designed specifically for the Grinnell environment and is intended to strengthen staff leadership skills and collaboration with faculty to support the College’s academic mission.

“We are thrilled to soon fully launch the Staff Leadership Development Program — a new opportunity designed to empower and inspire growth across our College community. Open to all staff, this program invites those eager to strengthen their leadership abilities and invest in their professional journey. Through engaging practical skill-building experiences, participants will gain tools and insights that support meaningful career advancement and lasting impact,” says Gina Donovan, a member of Grinnell’s senior leadership team and staff council.

A pilot for the program will run approximately May 4–June 26 and will feature offerings from the program’s Emerging leadership category. Through the pilot and the resulting participant feedback, the program will be refined and prepared to fully roll out to staff across the College.

“The purpose of the pilot is to gain meaningful feedback from participants on content delivery and learning outcomes as the full program will scaffold leadership opportunities through the tiers categories of Emerging, Established, and Elevated,” says Bailey Asberry, director of human resources and professional development.
