Saturday Shuttles

Grinnell College offers twice-monthly shuttle to to one of the following popular destinations (varies by week):

Jordan Creek Mall, Des Moines
Historic East Village, Des Moines
Coral Ridge Mall and Old Capital Town Center, Iowa City

Tickets

Available to: Students, faculty, and staff
Dates: What weeks are they available for? Or where can they find out?
Cost: $5 (cash only)
Purchase: from Student Affairs Office (Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center, third floor), Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Important: Tickets are limited.

Logistics

Campus Departure:
- from: the front of the Rosenfield Center
- at: 10 a.m. sharp
Return Departure: 4:45 p.m. sharp from the destination.
Arrival on Campus:
- to: the front of the Rosenfield Center
- at: approximately 6 p.m.

Important:

You must show your ticket to board.
If you miss the return shuttle at 4:45 p.m., you are responsible for finding and paying for your own ride back to campus.

Des Moines Airport Shuttles

Grinnell College offers shuttle service to and from the Des Moines International Airport (DSM).

Tickets

Available to: Students only (no guests, family, faculty, or staff)
Dates: The start and end of the school year and school breaks
Purchasing:
- Use the registration forms linked below.
- Tickets go on sale in late June.
- Shuttle space is limited; make your reservation early.

Chicago Shuttles

Grinnell College offers shuttle service to and from Chicago (Union Station) and Lisle, Ill.

Tickets

Available to: Students only (no guests, family, faculty, or staff)
Dates: school breaks and holidays. (Does not run at the start or end of the academic year).
Purchasing:

- Shuttle space is limited; make your reservation early.

Greyhound Bus Lines

The private bus line offers daily commercial bus service directly from campus, seven days a week.

Available to: General public (open to all)
Purchasing:

Logistics

Campus stop: The Noyce Science Center "cutout" on Eighth Avenue.
Frequency: Twice daily (once heading eastbound, once heading westbound).

Route and Destinations

These routes offer direct access to major cities and other college communities, as well as key regional transportation centers for connections to other national intercity bus routes.

Stops between Chicago and Des Moines include:

Illinois: Chicago Bus Station, Naperville, Dekalb, Rochelle, Dixon, and Moline.
Iowa: Davenport, Iowa City, Grinnell, Grinnell College, and Des Moines.

Des Moines-Based Taxi Services

Private taxicab companies provide travel to or from the Des Moines Airport.
