Fernanda Eliott is an assistant professor of computer science at Grinnell College.  Professor Eliott builds Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that use cognitive inspiration and Reinforcement Learning (RL) techniques.  Her overall goal is to develop state-of-the-art cognitively inspired computational approaches to understand where meaningful decisions come from and to enhance human-technology partnerships through the development of AI systems that promote inclusion and assist people.  To her, research and teaching function as a virtuous circle. Professor Eliott uses findings from one to excel in the other. Her belief is that inclusion boosts innovation and scientific growth drives her research and teaching philosophies.
