Four Grinnell College Professors Receive Franklin Research Grants from the American Philosophical Society

Since 1933 the American Philosophical Society has awarded small grants to scholars in order to support the cost of research leading to publication in all areas of knowledge. This year, four Grinnell College professors were awarded Franklin Research Grants.

Angela Frimpong ’20 Receives Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides a $15,000 stipend to graduating college seniors to pursue a meaningful public service activity. Frimpong will develop a youth entrepreneurship program in Gbulahagu, Ghana, that she named EntrepreYearn.

Author of "American Sutra" to Discuss Book

When the FBI began mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, Buddhist priests were among the first to be incarcerated. "American Sutra" tells the story of Japanese American Buddhists (the largest group of Buddhists in the United States at that time) in the context of anti-Japanese sentiment during World War II and draws parallels to contemporary challenges to religious freedom facing Americans today.
