The Grinnell Gathers series was inspired by local resident Rieslynn Goetzinger. As she wrapped up her senior year of high school, Goetzinger wanted to share the impact her involvement in the Rotary Club of Grinnell had on her experience as a student and introduce other students and community members to places where people come together to do good.

This fall marks 20 years since the 2006 Grinnell College women’s cross country team cemented their place in school history, finishing in the top 10 at the NCAA Division III National Championship. While the team is rightly remembered for their athletic achievements, the former teammates look back fondly on the whole experience of that season.

Grinnell College has received a $115,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation to continue its Mellon-Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) program, supporting students as they pursue advanced study and academic careers in the humanities and related fields.

Fredrick A. Wierschke, an administrative testing assistant in Grinnell College’s Accessibility and Disability Resources talks about his life, interests, and what makes his work with students so rewarding.

For Sebastian Mrotzek ’28, addressing hunger means thinking about both what a community needs today and what could make that need less common tomorrow. An economics major at Grinnell College, Mrotzek spent the summer working with local organizations focused on food access as part of the College’s Summer of Service program. His experience has taken him from stocking the community fridge at Drake Community Library and helping with community meals to volunteering with organizations working throughout Grinnell and Poweshiek County.

We are excited to welcome Antionette Priscilla Carroll, our 2026 Social Innovator in Residence, who began her residency at Grinnell this week and will be with us through Oct. 22. During the weeks ahead, Antionette will engage with students, faculty, staff, and community members through a residency centered on trust, equity, design, and the relationships that help people and communities create meaningful change.
