Given that our students are making good progress toward their degrees, despite a very difficult and intense year, Grinnell College will not offer classes in Summer 2021. We will work individually with the few students who need further academic credit on options towards the degree.
The work of Grinnell College is the work of democracy. When we gather to learn, deliberate, collaborate, and create together, we are putting into practice core democratic principles; we are aiding and supporting and contributing to society.
We are cancelling classes tomorrow, Monday, September 21, to recommit ourselves to equity and inclusion and to recognize the violent loss of one of our community.
It is my great honor to start this year with you in my new role as your president. It is truly wonderful to think of classes being in session and the launch of our great endeavor.
