Prairie planting on Mac Field

Adaptable Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Structure

What we have in place:

  • Developed and now utilize a competency-based hiring process for all open employment searches.
  • Standardized interview and equity advocate (EA) training to promote an equitable interview experience for all open employment searches.
  • In partnership with the associate dean of faculty development and diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the College’s Division of Academic Affairs, provided financial support for the development of tenure-track faculty members belonging to marginalized identities through a national faculty support program, as well as individual mentoring to improve the probability of achieving tenure status.
  • In partnership with campus and community members, formed the Grinnell Alliance which strives to create culture-sharing opportunities, connect the public schools with Grinnell College in meaningful ways, facilitate community-wide activities, and address safety concerns.
