Student Health and Wellness

Student Health and Wellness (SHAW) advances Grinnell College’s mission and strategic plan by providing person-centered care and services supporting the physical, mental, and social well-being of all students, as well as supporting the holistic health of the campus community. SHAW helps students learn to engage with life tasks that are needed to support personal health and well-being in order to be successful during their time at Grinnell and beyond.

Summer Resources!

Summer break offers a nice opportunity to pause, reset, and recharge. We wanted to take a moment to remind you of all the services that are available to you during the break.

Due to licensing laws, we can only provide clinical services to students currently residing in Iowa. However, if you need support with insurance, billing, or help finding a local-to-you provider, you can always reach out to us. You can use our national provider search or, if you’d like support finding a local provider, you can fill out our online referral form. You can search an online directory of mental health providers through WellTrack Connect.

Summer Hours

Monday–Thursday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.–noon. To make an appointment, call 641-269-3230, use your SHAW portal, or go to the SHAW lobby.

Remember that SHAW has many resources for students including local providers, wellness tips, and other health and wellness information.

Virtual Resources

Students continue to have access to a variety of free virtual resources. Items with an * asterisk, have all or part of their services available internationally.

 *“Need to Talk?” Line (641-269-4404)

A 24/7 general support and crisis hotline to immediately access a licensed mental health professional for assistance and/or for consultation. This service is offered by ProtoCall.

Welltrack Connect

Offers access to therapists locally and nationally when using flex credits. You can use available flex credits for virtual and, potentially, in-person appointments. When you sign up, you will be given two free flex credits per academic year. However, you can request more directly through Welltrack.

HealthiestYou

Provides a variety of virtual services at no cost for students on the student health insurance plan. HealthiestYou offers ongoing therapy, coaching and guidance, digital programs (structured courses and in-the-moment tools), as well as crisis management. You can access HealthiestYou by visiting the website or by downloading the HealthiestYou app on your phone. Once established with a counseling provider, you generally have access to counseling even while traveling.

*Wayhaven
