Support Groups

Grinnell Advocates

Grinnell Advocates is a staff-supervised, student organization that aims to create greater awareness about issues surrounding sexual assault and dating violence on campus during the academic year. This group provides sensitive, educational programming about issues related to dating violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.

Advocates are individuals trained to provide supportive services for students who have found themselves in the midst of incidents of dating or sexual violence. Advocates do not provide counseling services; rather they offer a non-judgmental listening ear and information for relevant resources. They will maintain confidentiality to the fullest extent possible and ensure that no survivor or student-at-risk has to navigate the medical, legal, mental health, or campus system alone.

  • Peer advocates are available for 24/7 emergency support via call/text to our hotline, 641-260-1615, or instant messaging through our LiveChat.
  • Our email is available for non-urgent questions.
  • The advocates' Instagram account @GrinnellAdvocates is also a resource to follow; we post regularly about various topics related to consent/healthy relationships/sexual respect, etc.

Title IX | Sexual Respect

Talk with the Title IX Coordinator about your options.

Grinnell College’s Title IX coordinator will help review your options for next steps, link you to support resources, and discuss supportive measures with you. You have the agency at each step in the process to set the pace and make your own decisions about how best to proceed, except when there is an immediate threat to the community or a minor is involved. Meeting with the Title IX coordinator does not require you to pursue disciplinary action.
