Celebrate Halloween with a Haunting Organ Concert at 9 p.m. Wednesday

During the performance, which is free and open to the public, the audience is invited to sing along with three “Scarols,” traditional Christmas carols with familiar melodies teeming with spooky characters and haunting musical variations. The Scarols include “Deck the Hall with Web and Spider” and “We Wish You a Spooky Ghoultide.” The program also features “The Dracula Suite” by Janet Correll and J.S. Bach’s “Toccata & Fugue in D Minor.”

Assisting Linda Bryant are seven Grinnell College student organists: Mary Binzley, Linqing Peng and Bailey Vandekamp, class of 2022; and seniors Mark Duncan, Sarah McCarthy and Richard Tanimoto. Another senior, Anthony Wu, leads a small choir.

Performer Bio

Linda Bryant earned her Bachelor of Music from Drake University and Master of Arts from Valparaiso University. She also holds a Colleague certification from the American Guild of Organists. She provides music for numerous ceremonial events, such as the Medallion Ceremony, Grinnell Prize Awards Ceremony, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. She also plays for worship services, memorial services, and weddings, and performs occasional recitals both in Herrick Chapel and in other communities. In addition, she promotes the College’s pipe organ and gives lessons to organ students.
