Monica Chavez-Silva's New Board Appointment
Monica Chavez-Silva, Vice President of Community Engagement and Strategic Planning, was recently approved to join the board of the national youth-serving organization, Youth Advocate Programs.
Youth Advocate Programs delivers and advocates for community-based alternatives to residential care and incarceration, creating positive change for youth, families, and communities. Chavez-Silva's nomination is a testament to her and the College’s success in implementing collective impact principles for long-term systems change. The nomination team specifically highlighted Chavez-Silva's expertise in this area as a benefit to the organization.
“I look forward to beginning this work with Youth Advocate Programs. Through Grinnell College’s experience adapting collective impact principles to social challenges and planning initiatives with a variety of different partners, I’ve seen firsthand how individuals and organizations can make a meaningful impact when they work together in common cause. YAP’s research-based framework has demonstrated measurable impact over time, and I’m excited to be part of the next chapter,” Chavez-Silva says.
