Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: Post-Fact Politics from Russia to the West

Peter Pomerantsev, an award-winning author who recently published a book titled Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: The Surreal Heart of the New Russia, will speak at Grinnell College on Thursday, Feb. 23. The book was shortlisted for the 2015 Guardian First Book Award, and longlisted for the 2015 Samuel Johnson Prize.

His talk, titled "Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: Post-Fact Politics from Russia to the West," will start at 11 a.m. in room 101 of the Joe Rosenfield '25 Center, 1115 Eighth Ave., Grinnell. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

Pomerantsev is an award-winning contributor to the London Review of Books. He writing has been published in the Financial Times, newyorker.com, Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, Daily Beast, Newsweek, and Atlantic Monthly.

In addition to writing, Pomerantsev has worked as a consultant for the European Union and for think tanks on projects pertaining to the former Soviet Union. He was born in Kiev, Ukraine, raised in England, and then lived and worked as a television producer in Moscow for almost a decade. Pomerantsev is uniquely placed to offer a bold, penetrating insight into Russia today and Vladimir Putin’s “post-modern dictatorship.”
