Attend a school that gets high marks.

Grinnell is among the very best liberal arts colleges in the nation. Because, well, we’ve got a lot to offer. However, there’s a lot more to the story. And like the cover of a book, you can’t completely judge a college based on one number. So be sure to check out multiple rankings and sources. Look for a school that gets high marks in the categories that matter to you. Then, narrow your field from there.

It’s your college experience and your perspective. So know that what you’re looking for may vary greatly from what your peers are seeking. Rankings can be very helpful. You can see how Grinnell nets out with some of the most-used rankings.

Find your place in the world.

With the help of your faculty adviser, you’ll decide what you want to study deeply and what to study more broadly. You’ll take one required class, the First-Year Tutorial, and choose from more than 500 others during your four years.

You'll combine your intellectual interests with practical career opportunities. What you learn in the classroom you’ll apply locally and globally through internships, service learning, research opportunities, and off-campus study. You’ll form your own answers to life’s questions.

You’ll learn to move confidently through a complex world and make it a better place for everyone. That’s our promise and what it means to be a Grinnellian.

    Turn your interests into action.

At Grinnell, the guidance and tools you need to lead a successful life aren’t just easy to find — they seek you out. Such as individualized advice that prepares you to live responsibly, contribute fully, and thrive in a complex world.

The Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS) is ready to help from your first day on campus. With the aid of your CLS adviser, you’ll start thinking about how your career interests, academic interests, and personal values all intersect — and what to do about it. You’ll learn how any major can translate
into a fascinating career, especially when you take advantage of externships, internships, course-embedded travel, research opportunities, service learning, and campus leadership opportunities.
