RSS is a system that was designed to notify people when content is added to a blog or other Web site. It is now used by over 18,000 journals to notify readers when new issues are published.
This video provides a "plain English" introduction to RSS.
To use RSS, you need two things: an RSS reader and the address of the RSS feed(s) for the journals (or other Web sites) you're interested in. The services listed on the Libraries' current awareness page will provide you with the addresses for RSS feeds. The following are some of the many RSS readers that are available:
- FeedDemon
- Some Web browsers, including Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer, can be used to aggregate RSS feeds as well.
