Grinnell College will honor Edith Renfrow Smith, Class of 1937, one of the College’s most accomplished and beloved alumni, by naming the Civic Engagement Quad (CEQ) Core Building in her honor.

Deqa Aden ’18 has been named a 2022 Obama Scholar by the Barack Obama Foundation; an honor given to 25 emerging leaders worldwide in recognition of their community service. As an Obama Scholar, Aden will participate in specially designed leadership development courses at the University of Chicago, where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the Harris School of Public Policy.
Beisner, a class of 2022 graduate from Grinnell, Iowa, and originally from Denton, Texas, majored in psychology and Spanish with the intent of pursuing a graduate degree in social work and public policy.
Four new trustees have been elected to Grinnell College's governing board, which meets formally three times during the academic year.
Grinnell College recently received a gift from Liyan Chen ’12 and her husband Brian Solomon, which was made in honor of Grinnell resident Jean Libbey, an enthusiastic host of international students.
