Her second book project, “Poppies and Memory: Darkness Spoken between Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan,” delves into the representation of the Holocaust in the post-war world. The center of Sun's research interest lies in investigating the representation of the Holocaust through literature, cinema, and cultural institutions. This exploration raises pertinent questions regarding the portrayal of the Holocaust and its impact on collective memory.

Sun’s forthcoming publications include “Over the Sea: A Comparative Analysis of Chinese and Japanese Responses to German-speaking Jewish Refugees in Shanghai” and “Sex, Stateless, and Survival in Shanghai: Gendered Recollection from Rena Krasno and Liliane Willens.”
