The Office of Staff Equity utilizes liberal arts ideals and the cultural tapestry approach within policies, processes, collaborations, and programming to create an environment where all staff are empowered and encouraged to bring their entire self.

Staff Equity Outcomes

Staff members that intersect and engage with Staff Equity will be able to:

Confidently and compliantly engage in the behavioral interview process as a member of a hiring committee.
Be an effective equity advocate to staff searches as needed.
Feel supported as a hiring manager throughout the hiring journey in finding a candidate who best meets the needs of the role they are filling.
Have confidence in the recruitment strategy that is created with ODEI and the hiring manager.
Create an employee resource group (ERG) to support their identity and build community.

Equity Advocate Program

As part of the College’s priority of creating a more representative workforce, we have initiated an equity advocate (EA) program. Employee Resource Groups

ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups that promote a sense of belonging and inclusivity within the workplace, as well as contribute to a positive work environment for all employees.

At Grinnell College, our ERG program supports the College’s Guiding Principles by:

Building community and providing more voices to the decision-making process as it relates to College-wide policies, practices, and procedures, curriculum, pedagogies, and learning spaces, and shared governance.
